Bridge the Gap: UofA Faculty of Science How to access resources

Are you interested in partnering or accessing personnel resources from the University of Alberta, but don't know how to start? Are you having trouble recruiting qualified personnel with skills in high demand areas? Join us at the Edmonton Research Park for our next Bridge the Gap wine and cheese where the Faculty of Science will explain how to access undergraduate or graduate level students for internships, how to gain exposure for your company with our students before they graduate, how to find academics to collaborate on R&D projects, and gain a better understanding of how IP is handled in academic-company joint projects.

The Faculty of Science at the UofA wants to help local companies grow and foster stronger relationships with researchers and students.  Collaborating with the University will allow companies to access expertise, high value equipment, and government funding programs that require industry-academic partnership. We believe that a strong connection between local companies and the University are vital to our mutual success.

How to bring your A-Game so your client brings their A spend

How to bring your A-Game so your client brings their A spend

There is a reason why during a flight safety presentation you are asked to apply your own oxygen mask before attempting to assist others, namely that you're no good to anyone if you've already passed out.

The exact same lesson applies to customer engagement; if you are struggling to engage yourself, it will be impossible for you to truly engage others.

Engagement is emotional and unlike our values and behaviors, which are far more set and predictable, our emotions are highly dynamic and are changing all the time, making self-engagement one of the most elusive skills to master.

We wish to afford you the tools that will help build that mastery.

CultureSmith is Alberta’s Engagement Expert. We know what it takes to motivate people to take action. Now for the first time ever, the methodology that countless companies have used to engage their workforce has been reengineered to allow you to engage your customer base.

As part of our continuing collaboration with the ATB Entrepreneur Centre, this session serves as the third of three "Master Classes" expanding upon our popular "How to Sell Your Soul" seminar. Over the course of the session you will learn:

  • Your unique Compulsive behaviors that seek to undermine your personal performance, as well as the specific Propulsive attitudes you need to adopt to counteract them;
  • The Triggers that cause you to fall into these negative patterns and the Switches you can build to leverage yourself back up;
  • The daily ritual you can adopt TOMORROW to overcome personal disengagement forever;
  • And how to put yourself in a position to do this for your customers, positioning you as far more than a simple provider of goods or services.

AVAC Ltd. invests in venture capital funds in Canada and the U.S. in addition to private company direct investments.

Come on out and hear from Warren as he uncovers the massive risk of investing in start-ups and why it is so important to do so.

Mastering the Elevator Pitch

Imagine that you have been attempting for months, without success, to see a potential buyer to “pitch” your company’s services. But no one is returning your phone calls. And then, as fate happens, you run into an elevator just before the doors close and look up to see the very person you’ve been trying to reach. Can you deliver an effective “elevator pitch” before they reach their floor?

A great elevator pitch can often be THE deciding factor on whether a prospect will eventually become a client. In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn how to create a compelling elevator pitch that helps you sort the prospects from the suspects, and get them on a fast track to a sale.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn the components of a successful value proposition
  • Understand what not to say
  • Discover how to weave in your client’s “pain points”
  • Craft a powerful value proposition
  • Combine all of this into a compelling elevator pitch
